ICU is open for membership to all martial arts and all distinguished martial artists, providing they are people of good will, respecting each other and willing to develope friendship and cooperate with each other.

Membership is free (there is no fee).

Individual membership:

There are two ways someone can become new ICU member:
1) Recommendation: General rule is that new members are accepted only on written recommendation from some of members of the ICU Board of Directors. In such situation short CV is required, together with photo, E-mail and URL;
2) Application: It is also possible to join ICU by application. In such a case, candidate is required to send:
- short CV (1-2 pages) with date of birth, year when he/she started practicing martial arts, year when he/she received 1st Dan, styles that he/she practice, present ranks (Dans), etc.
- photo,
- certificates for the 1st Dan, 4th Dan (if having this or higher Dan) and highest present Dans (they should be scanned and sent as attachment to E-mail),
- E-mail and URL (if there is any).

In both cases Commission of the ICU Board of Directors decides about membership, upon materials presented. Commission is composed of 5 members representing five different martial arts. It is not obliged to give any explanation why any candidature was not accepted.

International Representatives:

ICU Governing body decides whether it will appoint some of its distinguished members to be ICU representatives for certain countries.
General rules are:

• in principle ICU international representatives are appointed among grandmasters or international masters. In exceptional cases, when there are particular reasons for it, international representatives can be appointed among masters:
• one person can be appointed for ICU international representative for maximum 2 countries;
• there can be more than one ICU international representatives for one country, providing for they are not belonging to the same martial art.

Federations membership:

Federation can join ICU, provided for their President or other highest officials are ICU members in their individual capacity.
In such a case to the ICU President or Secretary General should be sent:
- full name of the federation,
- its headquarters (statement in which country it is),
- federation’s logo,
- its URL (if there is any).

Club (dojo, dojang...) membership:

Clubs can join ICU, provided for their President or other highest officials are ICU members in their individual capacity.
In such a case to the ICU President or Secretary General should be sent:
- full name of the Club,
- martial arts style (styles) represented in the Club,
- Club headquarters (statement in which town and country it is),
- Club URL (if there is any).
